Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project
Improving road safety and ease movements in the area.
The Project
The Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal project will see the removal of level crossings in Perth, Western Australia along the Armadale Line at Mint Street, Oats Street, Welshpool Road, Hamilton Street and Wharf Street and replace them with elevated rail.
What it delivers
The project will improve road safety, ease movements in the area, modernise stations and create versatile public spaces for the community.
Client
The project is being delivered by the Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance, which is a joint venture of Acciona, BMD, WSP and AECOM. Castleross Construction are subcontracted by Australian Precast Solutions (APS).
Key Challenges Addressed
The delivery of precast structures forms part of the delivery of Perth’s first major elevated rail solution. We were heavily involved during the establishment stages of the facility and worked closely with the client on the construction methodologies during the planning stages. This early collaboration ensured that the client’s scope of approximately 600 precast elements requiring over 50,000 tonnes of concrete to be delivered safely on schedule whilst maintaining high levels of quality.
