West Gate Tunnel Project

A vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge.

The Project

The $6.7 billion West Gate Tunnel Project is a four-kilometre toll road currently under construction in Melbourne, Victoria, to link the West Gate Freeway at Yarraville with the Port of Melbourne and CityLink at Docklands via twin tunnels beneath Yarraville, as well as a bridge and elevated road section.

What it delivers

The West Gate Tunnel will deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge. It will provide a much needed second river crossing, quicker and safer journeys, and remove thousands of trucks from residential streets.

Client

The project is a partnership between the Victorian Government and Transurban and is being built by construction contractors CPB Contractors and John Holland (CPBJH JV).

Key Challenges Addressed

The project has a commitment to the local community to ensure a minimal impact to the surrounding environment and keeping people safe.

We brought in teams with deep experience and trained people within the community to unlock efficiencies and deliver work both of quality and at speed to ensure long lasting project results.

Castleross Construction also demonstrated resilience and ingenuity in managing a skilled workforce throughout Covid-19, ensuring our people were safe and that we minimised time away from work to ensure we continued to deliver on our program.
